The government has received cumulative bids of over Rs 1,080.0 billion at the end of the thirteenth day and 80 rounds of the ongoing spectrum auctions. The auction will resume on March 19, 2015.
Up till now, about 89 per cent of the spectrum on sale had been provisionally allocated. The Department of Telecommunications has stated that a majority of service areas are being allocated at a premium over the reserve price. Moreover, competitive bidding is expected to continue.
HIgh bidding activity was witnessed for Punjab circle in the 900 MHz band and Tamil Nadu circle in the 1800 MHz band. In the 800 MHz spectrum band, maximum bids were received for the Delhi and Maharashtra circles. Meanwhile, the low demand was witnessed for spectrum in all circles in the 2100 MHz band.
