The government has received cumulative bids of Rs 1,090.0 billion at the end of the eighteenth day (March 24, 2015) and 110 rounds of the ongoing spectrum auctions. The cumulative amount was much higher than the amount received on the previous day, Rs 1,050.0 billion.

So far, about 89 per cent of the spectrum on sale has been provisionally allocated. According to the Department of Telecommunications, most service areas are going at a premium over the reserve price and robust bidding is being witnessed in the 800 MHz, 900 MHz and 1800 MHz frequency bands.

In the 900 MHz band, high bidding activity was witnessed in the Punjab and Haryana circles.  Meanwhile in the 1800 MHz band, aggressive bidding was seen for spectrum in the Tamil Nadu circle. In the 800 MHz band, the focus was on Northeast and Madhya Pradesh circles, which witnessed high bidding activity. Meanwhile, low demand was witnessed for spectrum in all circles in the 2100 MHz band.
