The government has received cumulative bids worth Rs 1.02 trillion at the end of the eighth day of the ongoing spectrum auctions. So far, the government has conducted a total of 49 rounds of bidding.

Currently, over 84 per cent of the spectrum has been provisionally allocated to the telecom operators. According to the Department of Telecommunications, bidding is taking place in all bands while brisk bidding was seen on the eighth day of bidding.

The maximum bids were received for Punjab circle in the 900 MHz band, while Odisha and Tamil Nadu circles saw maximum demand in the 1800 MHz band. In the 800 MHz spectrum band, Northeast and Assam circles witnessed high bidding activity. Meanwhile, the demand for spectrum in the 2100 MHz marginally improved with bidding activity witnessed in the Assam, Northeast, Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh (West) circles.
