According to S Krishnan, secretary, Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY), the government is working on a new electronics component linked incentive scheme. The government has been holding discussions with the industry regarding design and Make in India products.
Speaking during the launch of made-in-India Milkyway tablets, Krishnan noted that the private sector is stepping up and the new component linked incentive scheme will assist this movement towards making India increasingly a nation that produces more components.
The secretary launched the Milkyway 4G tablet developed by the Electronic Products Innovation Consortium (EPIC) Foundation. The tablet has been designed in India and will be produced locally by VVDN And United Telecoms.
