The ministry of electronics and information technology (MeitY) is coming up with a scheme worth up to Rs 120 billion to incentivise companies to set up data centres in the country.
The government intends on securing an investment of Rs 3 trillion over the next five years under the data centre scheme and plans on providing incentives such as covering 3 to 4 percent of capital investment, real estate support and fast clearances.
At present, the policy is being subjected to inter-ministerial consultations and is expected to be sent for cabinet approval post finalisation.
