The government of Karnataka is planning to provide public Wi-Fi hotspots in at least 5,000 locations across the city. The city will have the highest penetration of public Wi-Fi hotspots in the country, once the plan comes to fruition.
The government is also planning on extending the free public Wi-Fi to other corporations across the State. 3,000 hotspots have already been identified in the city, which is planned to be scaled to beyond 5,000 hotspots. However, the government is yet to commence negotiations with telecos and wireless broadband service providers
