The government of Delhi has released a draft Electronic System Design, Manufacturing and Refurbishment (ESDMR) Policy 2022-27, with a focus on plug and play facilities to designers and manufacturers. According to the policy, plug and play infrastructure will allow operating units to reduce setup time and begin production at the earliest.
As per the draft policy, Delhi’s Electronic Design Village (DEDV) will have start-up village for engaging entrepreneurs in electronic design or designed based manufacturing. It will house global independent electronics design houses, start-ups, and design teams of original design manufacturers.
Moreover, the research and design facility at the electronic city will be a tripartite collaboration among industries department, Indraprastha Institute of Information Technology of Delhi (IIITD) and Delhi Skills and Entrepreneurship University. The units operating within the electronic city will also be permitted to operate round the clock and employ women in all three shifts in a day. It will have ready built factories, dedicated high-speed internet connectivity, easy transportation access and uninterrupted power and water supply and other civic amenities.
The policy seeks to establish Delhi as a preferred destination for the electronics design and manufacturing industries, wherein the electronic city is estimated to create 85,000 job opportunities.
