The Department of Telecommunications (DoT) may not sell Bharat Sanchar Nigam limited’s (BSNL) assets worth over Rs 1 trillion through the Department of Investment and Public Asset Management (DIPAM) route.

As per industry sources, reviving the aided telco through DIPAM may slow down fund-raising and may take a longer time.

Meanwhile, DoT is in talks with the Department of Revenue, Department of Economic Affairs and NITI Aayog for giving loan guarantee for raising funds for BSNL and Mahanagar Telephone Nigam Limited (MTNL) to keep them afloat.

The loans would be utilised towards meeting the companies’ capital expenditure and salary payments.
