The government has made it mandatory for companies to do import registration for a range of electronic integrated circuits under chip imports monitoring system (CHIMS) from August 1, 2021.

According to the Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT), under CHIMS, importers are required to submit advance information in an online system for inbound shipments of these products and obtain an automatic registration number by paying the fee.

The items include electronic integrated circuits–processors and controllers, electronic integrated circuits–memories, and electronic integrated circuits–amplifiers.
