
The government is expediting the process of selecting a new chairman for the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI).
In so far, a search-cum-selection committee has been established to appoint a new chairman.
J.S. Sarma, the present chairman, retires on May 14, 2012.
Meanwhile, the Department of Telecommunications (DoT) has invited applications for the post. However, the committee will have the jurisdiction to consider any other candidates for the position.
