As per the ministry of communications, the government is creating an enabling framework for the deployment of affordable and secure 5G services in India.

Further, the telecom minister Ravi Shankar Prasad has stated that no case of any first world countries disapproving 5G spectrum services due to security reasons has come to the government’s notice. The eligibility criteria for bidders to participate in the next auction of the spectrum will be decided by the government prior to the auction, he added.

The standards for International Mobile Telecommunications (IMT) 2020 are also being finalised.

As per Prasad, the radio spectrum and telecom licenses awarded by the government are technology-neutral and can facilitate deployment of any network/services.
