The central government has approved an additional capital expenditure (capex) of Rs 69.82 billion for Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) in 2025. This comes on top of the Rs 3.22 trillion support extended to the telco over the years, which included a Rs 690 billion revival package in 2019, a Rs 1.64 trillion package in 2022, and the allotment of 4G and 5G spectrum worth Rs 890 billion.
Minister of State for Communications, in a written reply to the Rajya Sabha, said that BSNL has begun recording profits from 2020-21, attributing the turnaround to successive revival measures.
