The Ministry of Electronics and Information and Technology (MeitY) has approved proposals of 16 eligible mobile manufacturing companies under the Production Linked Incentive (PLI) scheme.

The international mobile phone manufacturing companies whose proposals are approved under mobile phone with invoice value Rs 15,000 and above segment, are Samsung, Foxconn Hon Hai, Rising Star, Wistron and Pegatron. Out of these, three companies namely Foxconn Hon Hai, Wistron and Pegatron are contract manufacturers for Apple iPhones.

Further, domestic manufacturers including Lava, Bhagwati (Micromax), Padget Electronics, UTL Neolyncs and Optiemus Electronics proposals have been approved by MeitY. In addition, six companies’ proposals have been approved under the specified electronic components segment which includes AT&S, Ascent Circuits, Visicon, Walsin, Sahasra, and Neolync.

Out of the total production, the approved companies under mobile phone with invoice value Rs 15,000 and above segment have proposed a production of over Rs 9 trillion. Further, the approved domestic companies, segment have proposed production of about Rs 1.25 trillion and those under the specified electronic components segment have proposed a production of over Rs 150 billion.

The approved companies under the PLI Scheme are expected to lead to a total production of more than Rs 10.5 trillion, over the next five years.
