The government has accepted a report of a task force to pave the way for modern and smart electricity transmission system in India.
The recommendations such as modern and smart power transmission systems with features such as real-time monitoring and automated operation of grid, better situational assessment capabilities to increase share of renewable capacity in power-mix, etc are part of the report of the task force set up by the Ministry of Power in September 2021 under the chairmanship of POWERGRID.
The report of the committee was accepted by the government after deliberations with Union Minister for Power R.K. Singh. In its report, the task force recommended an adequate amount of technological and digital solutions to be adopted in order to make the state transmission grids future ready.
With the expected time for short-term to medium-term recommendations at one-three years, long-term interventions are proposed to be executed over a period of three-five years.
