Six months after signing a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Andhra Pradesh government, Google is set to formally begin work on its data centre hub on April 28, 2026. The ground-breaking ceremony for the 1 gigawatt (GW) capacity data centre hub will take place in the presence of the Andhra Pradesh chief minister and senior company executives.
The project, with an investment of $15 billion, is being positioned as the largest single foreign direct investment in India. It will comprise three data centre campuses near Visakhapatnam, located at Adavivaram village (Visakhapatnam district), Tarluvada village (Visakhapatnam district) and Rambilli (Anakapalli district).
The land for the project has been handed over to Raiden Infotech India Private Limited, a subsidiary of Google, which is leading its implementation. According to sources, the formal launch event is likely to be held at either the Tarluvada or Rambilli site.
The three facilities, with a combined capacity of 1 GW, are expected to be operational by July 2028. The project will include the deployment of three high-capacity submarine cables, dedicated cable landing stations, and high-capacity metro fibre and telecommunications infrastructure.
The MoU between the state government and Google was signed in New Delhi on October 14, 2025, and the project is now moving into execution within six months. Raiden Infotech India has partnered with Adani Infra (India) Limited for the development of the hub. At the request of Raiden, the Andhra Pradesh Industrial Infrastructure Corporation has approved the allocation of 601.4 acres of land to Adani Infra Limited.
To facilitate the project, three special purpose vehicles, wholly owned by Adani Infra Limited, have been established. These include Vizag Hyperscale Data Centre Park Limited (160 acres at Adavivaram and Mudasarlova), Vizag Mega Data Centre Park Limited (266.6 acres at Tarluvada), and Vizag Rambilli Data Centre Park Limited (174.8 acres at Rambilli).
