According to the union minister for electronics and information technology, Google is exploring investment opportunities in India across areas such as artificial intelligence (AI) infrastructure, server manufacturing and drone production, indicating the company’s growing focus on the Indian technology ecosystem.
According to a statement issued by the ministry, the proposed $15 billion project will include a 1 GW hyperscale AI data centre in Visakhapatnam. The statement added that the Andhra Pradesh government has allocated nearly 600 acres of land for the project across Turluvada, Rambilli and Adavivaram.
In addition, the minister highlighted India’s expanding electronics manufacturing capabilities and encouraged global technology companies to increase local production in the country.
