Google Cloud has reportedly planned to bring all layers of its artificial intelligence (AI) stack, including models, hardware, and platforms, into India over time, expanding its local AI infrastructure. At present, only the Gemini 1.5 Flash model is hosted domestically, but newer models like Gemini 2.5 Flash are expected to be deployed soon, in line with Google’s 12-month AI refresh cycle. Hosting models locally is aimed at enhancing control, reducing latency, and improving data security for Indian users.

The company is also working closely with the Government of India under the IndiaAI Mission. As part of its public sector engagements, Google Cloud is partnering on the iGOT Karmayogi platform, which leverages AI for personalised learning and training of civil servants. Google Cloud’s end-to-end ownership of the AI stack, covering infrastructure, research, models, agents, and the Vertex AI platform, is positioned as a key differentiator in offering cost-effective enterprise AI solutions.

Additionally, the company has introduced a suite of out-of-the-box AI agents for use cases such as customer service, cybersecurity, creative functions, and data management, while also developing agents that can interact with third-party AI systems.
