The state government of Goa has instructed the internet service providers (ISPs), cable operators, and telecom infrastructure providers to register on the national GatiShakti Sanchar portal. While ISPs, telecom operators, and cable operators have been asked to apply for utilisation of electricity department infrastructure, they have also been directed to shift cables underground wherever possible.
If street lights and electricity poles are being used, the Goa electricity department will process the applications and collect the requisite fees. At present, Panaji is the only urban area in Goa to have a comprehensive network of underground utility and service ducts laid as part of the Smart City Mission.
