Adobe has published the Adobe Digital Index report. According to the report, currently, global websites are witnessing more traffic from tablets, compared to smartphones. Global websites are registering 8 per cent and 7 per cent of monthly page views from tablets and smartphones, respectively.
The key findings of the report include:
Tablet versus smartphone growth: Tablets are driving more traffic because internet users prefer them for more in-depth visits while smartphones are being used for shorter durations. Be it web surfing, watching video, or shopping online, internet users on average are viewing 70 per cent more pages per visit while using a tablet in comparison to a smartphone.
Tablet traffic growth across globe: In 2012, most countries witnessed traffic from tablets doubling over the previous year. The trend is expected to continue through 2013.
Mobile traffic share by industry: Internet users prefer tablets for retail and e-commerce related activities. Retail websites receive the highest number of visitors using a tablet across all industries. Automotive and travel shopping sites also command a significant share of traffic from tablets.
