On a global level, the wide area network (WAN) market is projected to see a growth of 44 per cent from $59 billion in 2021 to $85 billion in 2026. The findings have been reported by TeleGeography after surveying 5,000 large companies.

Region wise, China, United States of America and India will remain the top three countries to have the highest WAN revenue over the next five years as per the report.

The report added that the overall contribution of multiprotocol label switching (MPLS) will decrease by 55 per cent over the forecast period. The company credits this to the increased use of digital transformation and cloud services by enterprises.

East Asia will see a growth in share from 41 per cent to 46 per cent of the WAN market in 2026, driven mostly by China. Meanwhile, the market share in Middle East and North Africa will shrink from 9 per cent to 6.5per cent of the market. Other regions are expected to not see much change in their contribution to the market.
