According to a report by Gartner, the global sales of smartphones to end users during Q2 2020 stood at 295 million units, recording a YoY decline of 20.4 per cent. This decline has been attributed to the COVID-19 pandemic.

As per the report, Samsung retained the top spot, having sold around 55 million units. Samsung was closely followed by Huawei with 54 million units sold in Q2.

On comparison basis, Samsung experienced the largest decline in sales while Apple’s smartphone sales largely remained flat at 38 million units. Samsung’s YoY sales declined by 27.1 per cent.

Meanwhile, though Huawei also recorded a YoY decline in smartphone sales, the company also observed a 27.4 per cent QoQ growth.
