According to Gartner, the total global smartphone sales in third quarter (Q3) of 2020 stood at 366 million units, down 5.7 per cent from the same period last year.

According to Gartner, global smartphone sales experienced moderate growth from the Q2 2020 to Q3 2020 due to pent-up demand from previous quarters. While, the overall global mobile phone sales to end users reached 401 million units, a decline of 8.7 per cent year-over-year.

The report highlighted that Samsung held the top position with 22 per cent market share while Huawei was second with 14.1 per cent share. Further, Xiaomi grew 34.9 per cent during the quarter, securing 12.1 per cent market share. With this Xiaomi moved ahead of Apple as the third player. Apple’s sales stood at 40.5 million units during the period.
