The research firm states that Asia-Pacific and Canada are the only regions which have witnessed growth both in revenue and the shipment of servers. For the period under review, server market in Asia-Pacific witnessed y-o-y revenue and shipment growth of 10 per cent and 21.7 per cent, respectively. In Canada, the server revenue increased by 6.3 per cent and the shipment of server witnessed a growth of 2.7 per cent.

The revenue growth for the server market in Latin America was flat with server shipments growing by 1 per cent. For the period under review, US market witnessed year-on-year growth of 1.8 per cent in shipments but server revenue declined by 5.1 per cent.

Further, in the quarter under review, the demand for servers in Europe, the Middle East and Africa (EMEA) remained low. In EMEA region, server shipments declined by 5.9 per cent. The server revenue in the region stood at $3.1 billion declining by 4.6 per cent in the second quarter of 2013.

As per Gartner?s analysis, IBM led the worldwide server market in the reported period with revenues of about $3.2 billion and a market share of 25.6 per cent. HP was ranked second in the market with revenues of $3.08 billion and a 25 per cent market share, while third-ranked Dell reported $2.19 billion in revenues and a market share of 17.7 per cent.
