Taiwan-based electronics manufacturer Foxconn is set to suspend all operations at its Sriperumbudur plant from December 24, 2014. The company has decided to suspend as a result of change in the facility?s customer base and in manufacturing requirements of its clients in India.
The facility was commissioned in 2006 to manufacture printed circuit boards and telecom components. At present, the company is working with the government as well as the labour unions to ensure that the closing of operations at the plant is carried out in a manner that follows all relevant laws and regulations. The Sriperumbudur plant had nearly 1,700 employees.
The company has further stated that it will continue to consider investments in manufacturing operations in India subject to their commercial viability.
