Indian smartphone manufacturer, Micromax has appointed  Vineet Taneja as the company?s chief executive officer (CEO).

Earlier, Taneja had quit Samsung India as the company?s country head for mobile phones and digital imaging. He had been with the organisation for a year. As per the industry reports, Samsung India could not retain Taneja despite the company growing its mobile phone business by 40 per cent under his leadership. Further, media reports claim that Taneja was unhappy with senior leadership changes effected in the company.

Meanwhile, Taneja?s move to Micromax is expected to help the second ranked mobile phone manufacturer in the country to further consolidate its position in the Indian market. He will succeed Micromax?s former CEO, Deepak Mehrotra who quit the company in October 2013.

With over 25 years of industry experience, Taneja has been associated with organisations such as Hindustan Lever, Nokia and Bharti Airtel.
