Extreme IX, a carrier and data centre neutral internet exchange, has launched two new points of presence (PoP) in the Janakpuri and Gurugram region of Delhi NCR. These PoPs will play a pivotal role in exchanging over 200Gb of data per second and will act as an enabler for local internet service providers to extend faster and more affordable internet service to customers while also localising content.

Understanding and addressing the increasing demand of the high speed internet and growing data consumption, Extreme IX has been aggressively working towards multiplying its points of presence to cater to the projected requirements.

With the launch of these new points of presence, Extreme IX currently has 4 operational units in Netmagic DC Noida, Webwerks DC Noida, Sify DC Gurgaon and an independent POP in Janakpuri.

Commenting on the launch, Raunak Maheshwari, executive director, Extreme group, said, “We are on a mission to reduce the ever-growing digital divide in the country. The pandemic acted as an eye-opener that helped Indians understand the kind of infrastructural challenges and gaps that need to be addressed.  Understanding and attempting to attend to these gaps, we are excited to announce the launch of two new points of presence in the Delhi NCR region. This will help us extend affordable and faster internet capabilities to the internet service providers operating in those areas, thus ensuring easy and quick access of reliable internet to the masses.”
