The number of commercially available 5G devices has been growing steadily over the past few years, particularly picking up pace since the end of 2021. Globally, the number of announced 5G devices has reached a total of 2,741, as per the Global mobile Suppliers Association (GSA). Of these, 2,348 are commercially available, representing 85.7 per cent of all announced 5G devices. This marks a 62.3 per cent increase in the number of commercial 5G devices since the end of December 2022.
By the end of July 2024, GSA had identified 29 announced form factors; 286 manufacturers with announced, available or forthcoming 5G devices; and 2,741 announced devices, including regional variants, but excluding operator-branded devices that are essentially rebadged versions of other phones. Further, 1,084 announced devices with declared support for standalone 5G in sub-6 GHz bands have been reported, 890 of which are commercially available.
