EXFO has added Ookla’s Speedtest software to the EXFO MaxTester 635G. The Speedtest throughput testing and analysis software has been integrated directly into the MaxTester 635G test solution, which is a part of EXFO’s broader portfolio of test orchestration and real-time 3D analytics solutions for service providers, network equipment manufacturers and web-scale companies. The addition of Speedtest to EXFO’s MaxTester will help service providers ensure that their residential subscribers get better internet speeds. The new software will enable operators to roll out FTTx broadband in the residential services market to make sure subscribers get the throughput (upload and download speeds) they expect, based on results obtained directly from the testing devices used by technicians in the field.

Speedtest’s technology measures the true transmission control protocol throughput over the customer’s G.fast/digital subscriber line (DSL) or Ethernet circuit using the industry gold standard in internet connection speed testing. Therefore, service providers can now get more consistent results more efficiently with a single tool that integrates physical, service and throughput testing. Further, the handheld MAX-635G enables technicians to perform a Speedtest anywhere in the last mile network and prove internet upload and download speeds to locally distributed Speedtest servers. According to EXFO, in order to survive the massive industry transformation, service providers need more consistent and accurate network testing that is executed more efficiently. Therefore, as partners of these service providers, the company’s job is to develop smarter solutions that meet those needs. Further, EXFO is the first company to integrate Speedtest and provide operators with an all-in-one tool for residential testing.

In addition, EXFO’s MaxTester 635G helps service providers install, turn up and maintain G.fast, VDSL2-35b, VDSL2- and ADSL2+ deployments, and verify subscriber data rates of up to 1 Gbps. It also offers multi-play service testing with industry-leading, copper fault-finding capabilities and touchscreen navigation. The MaxTester 635G provides superior asset and data field management support using EXFO Sync and EXFO connect mobile and cloud-based solutions.
