Ericsson has requested the National Company Law Tribunal (NCLT) to dismiss the pleas filed by Reliance Communications (RCOM) seeking a refund of Rs 5.5 billion from the company as payment which it made to RCOM following the Supreme Court’s order.

As per Ericsson, a bankruptcy tribunal cannot adjudicate on pleas by RCOM as the payment was made on orders of the Supreme Court. Further, Ericsson has asked the tribunal to dismiss RCOM’s plea with exemplary costs.

According to Ericsson’s legal representative, the dues were paid to Ericsson to purge a contempt case in the court against RCOM chairman Anil Ambani.

The next hearing on the case is scheduled on January 30, 2020.
