Infonetics Research states the overall microwave equipment market will grow at an annual growth rate of 1.4 per cent from 2012-2017. With higher demand for Ethernet microwave equipment, the industry will witness decline in demand for dual Ethernet/TDM microwave segment.

Going forward, the backhaul market growth will be driven by macro long term evolution-Advanced upgrades and small cell deployments, both of which will require very low latency solutions. This will begin to make an impact from 2014 and boost the market growth for the next few years.
