According to Infonetics Research, worldwide telecoms outsourcing market was led by Ericsson in 2013. Telecom equipment vendors including HP, IBM and Huawei emerged as the second, third and fourth largest players in the telecoms outsourcing market respectively in 2013.

The research firm states that revenues of network equipment manufacturers outsourced by telecom service providers to perform network services grew by 3.8 per cent and stood $68.1 billion worldwide in 2013. The managed services business, a major part of the outsourcing market, including network maintenance, operations, planning and design, grew by 6 percent in 2013 to reach over $36 billion.

However, the overall growth in telecoms outsourcing market moderated in 2013 due to a combination of forex issues for Alcatel-Lucent, Ericsson, and Nokia, and major contract restructuring at Alcatel-Lucent and Nokia. Infonetics Research points out that in 2013, Huawei and ZTE signed  some outsourcing deals, while Alcatel-Lucent and Nokia exited some unprofitable contracts.

Going forward, the research firm expects global telecom managed services market to reach $45 billion by 2018.
