Ericsson has received a $450 million contract from Vietnam-based Hanoi Telecom to develop and modernise the latter’s nationwide mobile network. The strategic partnership will also see Ericsson managing and operating the network under a full-scope managed services contract. Under the three-year managed services agreement, Ericsson will be responsible for the management, operation and network design of Hanoi Telecom’s mobile network, including field operations and support services. The contract will enable Hanoi Telecom to migrate from a CDMA to a GSM platform. The company will also be the sole supplier of all IP circuit and packet core networks in addition to supplying radio access network equipment as well as optical and microwave transmission requirements.
