Ericsson and Huawei Technologies have won a tender to supply 3G telecom network equipment and services to Russia-based mobile operator Vimpelcom.

Ericsson and Huawei Technologies have won a tender to supply E 3G telecom network equipment and services to Russia-based mobile operator Vimpelcom. Vimpelcom’s 3G network is scheduled for commercial launch in Russia in 2008. Meanwhile, Ericsson has also won an order to supply 3G equipment and services to Russia’s largest cellular phone operator, Mobile TeleSystems (MTS). Apart from Vimpelcom and MTS, the other mobile operator with a licence to operate 3G services in Russia is MegaFon.
