Equinix has announced a distributed artificial intelligence (AI) infrastructure aimed at enterprises deploying advanced AI systems, outlining a new network backbone, fabric intelligence software, and a global AI solutions lab to support workloads spanning multiple regions and cloud providers.
The company said its distributed AI approach caters to distinct needs across training, inference, and data sovereignty. AI workloads often operate across geographies and demand low-latency access to computing resources, unlike traditional applications.
Fabric intelligence is a software layer built on Equinix Fabric, the company’s global interconnection service, and is slated for release in the first quarter of 2026. The software integrates with AI orchestration tools and leverages real-time telemetry to automatically adjust routing and network segmentation, reducing manual effort and accelerating AI workload deployment.
Meanwhile, Equinix also introduced the AI solutions lab, giving enterprises access to its partner ecosystem to test AI solutions and collaborate with technology providers. By providing a controlled environment, the lab is expected to help organizations mitigate risks associated with AI adoption and shorten the path from concept to deployment.
The new products are expected to be available in early 2026.
