The Empowered Group of Ministers (EGoM) headed by P. Chidambaram, Minister of Finance has lowered the reserve price for unsold spectrum by 30 per cent in the Delhi, Mumbai, Karnataka and Rajasthan circles, say news reports.

These service areas did not receive any bids in the recently concluded spectrum auction owing to the high reserve price.

Moreover, the EGoM has reportedly decided to auction spectrum in the 900 MHz band in Delhi, Mumbai and Kolkata simultaneously while auctioning spectrum in the 1800 MHz band. However, it is yet to take a decision on the auction of spectrum in the 1800 MHz band, which did not receive any bids, following the withdrawal of the two CDMA players.
