South African telecom operator eFive Telecoms has selected Alcatel-Lucent to build a submarine cable network linking the west coast of Africa to South America. The network will consist of two trunks – one connecting South Africa to Angola and Nigeria, and the other linking Angola and Brazil. Alcatel-Lucent will be responsible for the system’s design, manufacture and installation.
