The Minister of Communications has emphasised that duopoly is not desirable and competition is essential across all sectors. He highlighted that there is strong competition among internet service providers in India and announced that the government will issue guidelines for delicensing the 6 gigahertz (GHz) spectrum by August 15, 2025. This spectrum will be used for Wi-Fi services and bridging the digital divide.

The minister further stated that India already possesses fibre technology for broadband and Wi-Fi, and that satellite communication services will be introduced soon. He added that spectrum allocation to satellite players for satcom services will be done on an administrative basis, though he did not specify a timeline for the allocation.
