DoT’s technical wing, the Telecom Engineering Centre (TEC), has invited expressions of interest from Indian companies like TCS, Wipro and L&T Infotech to set up a Wi-Max certification lab. The lab will be jointly owned by the government, an Indian company and an international testing firm. The Indian partner, which will own up to 49 per cent stake in the lab, will draw up the business plan indicating the cost of the project and the expected returns. It will also be responsible for the day-to-day control and management. TEC and the foreign partner will own 26 per cent and 25 per cent stake respectively. The international partner will be selected after TEC finalises the agreement with the Indian company.
