The Department of Telecommunications (DoT) has informed that it will not charge any fee for 5G roll-out obligations testing. Telecom operators are required to offer sites in a prescribed manner to the DoT for the verification of compliance with roll-out obligations. For this, the DoT has said that it will charge zero fees for testing in the 3300 MHz and 26 GHz spectrum bands.

The DoT had set the deadline for telecom operators to meet the roll-out obligations as August 17, 2023. While Bharti Airtel and Reliance Jio met all the roll-out obligations, Vodafone Idea Limited (Vi)  only tested 5G in Pune and Delhi to meet the obligations. The penalty amount for Vi has not been announced by the DoT yet.
