The Department of Telecommunications (DoT) has issued a notice for holding a pre-bid conference related to the upcoming 5G spectrum auctions. The pre-bid conference is the first major event in the detailed auction timetable that is mentioned in the bid document.

The government plans to auction airwaves worth about Rs 4.3 trillion. These airwaves are capable of offering 5G telecom services including ultra-high-speed internet. Meanwhile, the Union Cabinet has also given a go-ahead for setting up of captive 5G networks by the big tech firms.

As much as 72 GHz of spectrum will be put on the block during the auction which is expected to commence on July 26, 2022. To this end, DoT has issued a circular stating that a pre bid conference on Notice Inviting Applications (NIA) for spectrum auction will be held on June 20, 2022.
