The Department of Telecommunications (DoT) has postponed the last date for selection of auctioneer to develop software for the proposed Rs 5.22 trillion spectrum auction to March 6, 2020.

This is the second time that the government has deferred the last date for selection of the firm. Earlier, the DoT had plans to finalise the auctioneer by January 26, 2020, but deferred it to February 4, 2020.

The department has shortlisted C1 India Private Limited based in Haryana, mjunction Services, MSTC Limited based in Kolkata, and e-Procurement Technologies based out of Ahmedabad for technical round, which is now scheduled for February 17, 2020.

Further, the financial bids of qualified firms will open on February 28, 2020, and the auctioneer will be finalised on March 6, 2020.

As per industry sources, the delay is likely to push spectrum auction to July-August 2020.
