The Department of Telecommunications (DoT) is reportedly expected to start the reassessment of Vodafone Idea Limited’s (Vi) adjusted gross revenue (AGR) dues in the coming week, once the company submits a written undertaking agreeing to accept the outcome of the exercise, irrespective of whether the final liability rises, falls, or remains unchanged.

The department has already sought this formal assurance from the operator, and the reassessment process will commence shortly after the undertaking is received.

The review will involve a detailed examination of Vi’s financial records over the last 11 years, including digital filings, audit reports and related documents, to ascertain the actual AGR liability. The exercise could potentially result in a meaningful reduction in the principal amount, interest and penalties.
