DoT remains undecided over the proposed one-time settlement fee for spectrum held beyond 6.2 MHz by GSM operators. DoT has withdrawn the issue from the agenda for the time being as GSM operators claim that they have no unused spectrum. It is also uncertain about the model that should be used to calculate the fee.

According to the last calculation, DoT had suggested that GSM operators be charged a fee of Rs 160 million per MHz in the metro circles.
