As per the latest release, the Department of Telecommunications (DoT) has received 32 applications for the production linked-incentive (PLI) scheme for telecom equipment and design, which includes 18 new companies.
Out of the 32 applications received by the DoT, 22 companies belong to the micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs), 5 companies are non-MSME domestic entities and the remaining 5 applicants are global entities. Meanwhile, 17 of these 32 companies have applied as design-led manufacturers and remaining as production-linked manufacturers.
PLI scheme in was launched in 2021. A total of 31 companies are existing beneficiaries for manufacturing of various telecom equipment under the said scheme. Moreover, in order to promote the entire value-chain in telecom manufacturing, design-led PLI scheme was launched in June 2022. It provided additional incentive of 1 per cent over and above the existing incentives for products that are designed in India.
