The Department of Telecommunications (DoT) is expected to reportedly oppose transfer of the right to use spectrum of bankrupt telcos, Aircel and Reliance Communications (RCOM), undergoing insolvency process unless their statutory dues are cleared.

DoT is likely to take this stance before the National Company Law Appellate Tribunal (NCLAT) decides on the matter.

According to industry sources, if not the telcos, then their buyer or recipient of the airwaves under the insolvency proceedings, for instance, UV Asset Restructuring Company (UVARCL) in the case of both Aircel and Reliance Communications (RCOM), should be held liable for statutory dues.
