The Department of Telecommunications (DoT) has issued three show-cause notices to Sistema Shyam TeleServices Limited (SSTL) enquiring why its mobile permits in Kerala, Assam and West Bengal should not be cancelled for failing to roll out services.

Prior to this, Kapil Sibal, Minister of Telecommunications and IT had said that the Centre will issue show-cause notices asking why the mobile permits of 85 of the 122-telecom licensees, allotted by former communication minister A. Raja in 2008, should not be cancelled for suppressing facts and using fictitious documents.

Another set of notices were also slated to be issues to 119 licensees for failure to roll out services in time.

The DoT recently issued notices to Etisalat DB for cancellation of licence in the Mumbai and Delhi circles and to Idea Cellular for the Punjab circle on same grounds.
