The Department of Telecommunications (DoT) has issued show cause notices to Vodafone Idea Limited (Vi) and Adani Data Networks asking them to furnish reasons for failing to meet the 5G minimum rollout obligations (MROs) and why fines should not be levied on them.
As per industry sources, Vi may have to pay a fine of around Rs 140 million while a penalty of Rs 50-60 million may be imposed on Adani Data Networks.
The DoT has also sent notices to both companies asking them for the timelines for launching their 5G services.
