DoT is still to approve the BSNL-MTNL-ITI merger: Milind Deora

August 10, 2011 | Archive News

In a written reply to the Lok Sabha, Milind Deora, Minister of State for Communications and Information Technology has said that the Department of Telecommunications (DoT) is examining the feasibility of merging ITI and Mahanagar Telephone Nigam Limited (MTNL) with Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL).

This was recommended by the Board for Reconstruction of Public Sector Enterprises (BRPSE), in an attempt to stem the losses of all three companies.

Meanwhile, BSNL and MTNL have already begun synchronising their operations.
