DoT is reportedly exploring the option of selecting four mobile number portability (MNP) operators on a regional basis, as opposed to the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India’s (TRAI) recommendation of a single centralised agency for offering MNP solutions across India. TRAI had earlier submitted to DoT the draft request for proposal (RfP) for selection of a single operator, which would be licensed for providing and operating end-to-end MNP solutions in the country.
