According to a regulatory filing, the Department of Telecommunications (DoT) has imposed a penalty of Rs 0.21 million on Bharti Airtel for breaching subscriber verification regulations in the Karnataka circle.

Under the license agreement, Airtel is mandated to carry out proper verification of customers before registering them as subscribers and to follow the DoT’s directives issued in this regard.

Additionally, the DoT conducted a sample customer application form (CAF) audit for August 2025 and cited Airtel for non-compliance with the license terms concerning subscriber verification norms.

Airtel has chosen not to contest the penalty and will proceed with the payment.
